Kid’s Club is a weekly after school program for 3rd to 5th grade students to experience hands-on learning at The Hacktory. Each session provides a fun project that explores concepts of simple machines, basic electronics, computer programming, digital fabrication and multimedia production. Students learn how to use a variety of hand and small power tools with close adult supervision. All materials costs are included in the session fee, and students get to take their projects home when finished. We rigorously test all projects so we know they will be fun and reasonably attainable, but we also leave room for failure and experimentation along the way.
All teachers and volunteers are experienced in teaching and working with kids, and are subject to a thorough background check.
Fees: $35/session or $190 for a series of 6 sessions
Current series: April 10th through June 12.
Drop-ins are welcome, but we appreciate knowing if you plan on bringing your child so we can have enough materials ready!
Parents can also pay in person via cash, check, or credit card.
Location/Main Workshop: Department of Making + Doing, 3711 Market Street, Ground floor, Philadelphia PA 19104
Pick up details: We can pick up students from Penn Alexander school with parental consent. Attendees at other schools must make their own transportation arrangements to reach The Hacktory at this time.
