Here’s a treat for all tinkerers, new and old. Mitch Altman, founder of San Francisco’s Noisebridge hackerspace, and inventor of TV-B-Gone will be teaching Intro to Soldering here in Philly on July 7 from 1-4 pm. Mitch has traveled the world visiting hackerspaces, hacker conferences and schools, and teaching thousands of people to solder and make cool things with microcontrollers at his workshops. Here’s your chance to learn from him too!
If you have ever had any curiosity about making something with electronics, then this is the class for you.
You can learn to make something cool in one workshop, and take your project home with you. All skill levels and experience are welcome, age 11 and up.
There will be a variety of kits available, including:
TV-B-Gone (turn off TVs in public places!)
Brain Machine (Meditate, Hallucinate, and Trip Out!)
LEDcube (cool cube of blinky lights!)
Mignonette Game (play fun games!)
Trippy RGB Waves (interactive colored blinky lights!)
MiniPOV (more cool blinky lights!)
MintyBoost (charge your USB enabled gadgets!)
And for the more advanced:
Microcontroller programmers (program all your AVR family chips!)
Arduino clones (make just about anything!), and more.

Each project should take 1 – 2 hours, so it’s OK to come late.
There is an entrance fee of $10 for the class, and a fee for the kit you choose, which range from $10 to $20 each.
